Work placements for apprentices from Graz
Since 2002 the Department of Economic and Tourism Development of the City of Graz has financed work placements for apprentices of companies in Graz.
The placements cover a period of three weeks and are always scheduled in autumn. During the placement the apprentices attend an intensive language course and do a placement of a minimum period of two weeks in a vocationally-specific company. Sightseeing tours and cultural activities are usually part of the stay.
IFA organises the trip, the stay and the assurance. At an information event IFA prepares both apprentices and training companies for the stay abroad.
What is special about this initiative is that participants only have to provide
€ 150,-- from their own funds – independent of the country in which the placement is done.
Altogether 157 apprentices of various professions have done a placement in France, Finland, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Sweden and Spain.
Prerequisites for participation:
- Apprenticeship in a company in Graz
- Minimum age: 16 years
- 2nd, 3rd or 4th apprenticeship year
- Support can be provided for a maximum of four apprentices per company.
